Family Life Balance Assessment
Many aspects of your family life are encompassed in the ten areas listed below. Look at each dimension and ask yourself, "How fulfilled am I with my family in this dimension?" In the margin next to each area assign yourself a score where "0" means that you currently find "no fulfillment or satisfaction at all" and 10 is "completely fulfilled." Note that a 10 doesn't mean that it can't be improved or that it may not require attention to maintain your satisfaction. It means that, for the moment, you are feeling complete fulfillment in this area. You can also split a section in half. For example, you could assign "physical" a "7" for you and a "2" for other family members.
The titles for the ten family areas are:
1. Conflict Resolution (0-10)_________________
2. Discipline/Teaching Responsibility (0-10)_________________
3. Physical (Exercise/Health) (0-10)_________________
4. Spiritual (0-10)_________________
5. Social Support (0-10)_________________
6. Intimacy with Other Adult (0-10)_________________
7. Love/Connectedness (0-10)_________________
8. Learning/Growth (0-10)_________________
9. Communication (0-10)_________________
10. Play/Fun (0-10)_________________
The family pillars exercise is an assessment to help you begin to make choices that can improve your family life. By examining different aspects of family life, you can focus your energy, take action, and get results, in one specific area at a time.
